In NSW, all environmental impact statements (EIS) for state significant development (SSD) and state significant infrastructure (SSI) projects need to be reviewed by a Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (REAP).
Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner
A REAP is a qualified and skilled environmental assessment practitioner who has been certified under an accredited REAP scheme. There are 2 organisations offering accredited REAP schemes:
Purpose of the scheme
REAPs will ensure that a project’s EIS is prepared to a high standard and includes all the necessary information for the department to assess each project, helping projects move more efficiently through the planning process.
The REAP scheme is part of the Rapid Assessment Framework to improve major project assessments.
