Transport networks are vital for economic growth and community wellbeing. Roads, trains, metros, buses, ferries, light rail, cycling paths, and footpaths connect people to jobs and help us move around NSW.
The Transport and Infrastructure State Environmental Planning Policy makes it easier to plan, protect, and improve land for transport infrastructure.
Electric vehicle charging facilities
Electric vehicle charging units are facilities that allow people to recharge electric vehicles. As more people choose this type of transport, we need charging facilities in convenient locations across the state.
The NSW Electric Vehicle Strategy projects that by 2030–31, over half of new vehicle sales will be electric. This growing demand requires clear planning pathways to encourage investment in charging infrastructure.
The Policy provides clear approval pathways for electric vehicle charging units in Chapter 2, Division 17, Subdivision 3.
The Development near rail corridors and busy roads – interim guideline provides standards for building near transport infrastructure. Read about who should use the guideline and when it applies.
