The following case studies detail projects completed in 2022 that we have helped fund from across NSW.
The NSW Government’s funding supports our councils and the industry to address growing housing needs of the local community.
Sturt Park, Telopea
In 2021, The City of Parramatta was allocated $4 million to revitalise Sturt Park in Telopea under the Precinct Support Scheme. Construction on the project was completed in 2022 to deliver the community a state-of-the-art recreation facility amid beautiful surrounds to play and relax in.
The upgrades featured:
- new playground equipment, including Parramatta’s first flying fox
- upgraded skate bowl
- multi-use court
- amphitheatre-style seating
- sheltered picnic areas
- barbeques and toilet facilities.
The revitalised park will support up to 2,250 homes.

Hume Street Park, Crows Nest
In 2020, a $3.5 million grant under the Precinct Support Scheme was provided to North Sydney Council, as part of the jointly funded $20 million Hume Street Park Expansion project.
The first stage of the project is complete, giving the Crows Nest community much more open and green space to enjoy.
The newly-expanded park includes beautifully landscaped gardens, state-of-the-art lighting and extra seating for residents to relax as they immerse themselves in the many features of the revitalised outdoor setting.
The upgrade also incorporates a new pathway from the park to the shops and eateries on Willoughby Road, which will form part of a crucial link from the village to the new Crows Nest Metro Station. When the new Metro Station opens in 2024, around 10,000 people are expected to use the pathways in Hume Street Park during the morning peak alone.

Boundary Road, Dubbo
We invested $4 million in the Boundary Road Extension project, South Dubbo, in Round 4 of the Housing Acceleration Fund program. Completed in early 2022, the project included an extension of Boundary Road by 1.9km between Wheelers Lane and Sheraton Road, and construction of new roundabouts, drainage and active transport infrastructure.
The upgraded road provides key transport benefits for the whole Dubbo community as the regional centre continues to grow and thrive. The road will also form a critical piece of the Council’s long-term strategy to develop a Southern distributor road corridor that connects the Mitchell Highway and Blueridge Business Park with Dubbo CBD.
"Data collected over the years demonstrates that a lot of commuters travel east for a variety of reasons, school drop off and pickups, shopping, work plus may other things…this key project will create a strategic link for many commuters but particularly for those travelling between South Dubbo and the Sheraton Road School precinct."

Swansea foreshore, Lake Macquarie
We committed $3 million to Lake Macquarie City through the Public Spaces Legacy Program, as part of their $3.5 million project to enhance the Swansea foreshore. The completed project features a new boardwalk through stunning scenery on the western foreshore of Pirrita Island, new art installations and upgraded amenities including viewing platforms, seating and exercise stations for visitors to enjoy.
A new concrete pathway, wayfinding signage and parking spaces will enhance the accessibility of the area.
The project will improve the safety and accessibility of the popular recreation spot for both the community and visitors, giving them the opportunity to experience the scenic views and unique natural environment of the area.

Balmoral Road Reserve Sports Complex
In Round 1 of the Accelerated Infrastructure Fund, The Hills Shire Council was allocated $17 million to deliver a multi-purpose sporting and recreational facility to meet the needs of a growing population in and around Kellyville.
The completed reserve and sports complex provides fantastic opportunities for sporting participation and outdoor recreation, featuring high quality outdoor spaces such as 4 multi-purpose fields which can be used for cricket, soccer and AFL, 4 tennis courts, 2 multi-use ball courts, and 2 cricket practice nets. It also boasts a playground, shared pedestrian/cycling pathways, picnic areas, a 245-space carpark and three impressive amenity buildings that service different fields and the tennis courts. The reserve will service 2,300 dwellings, ensuring the places people increasingly want to live are supported by the right infrastructure.

Glengarrie Road Upgrade, Marsden Park
In Round 1 of the Accelerated Infrastructure Fund, Blacktown City Council was allocated $4 million to upgrade the existing rural road between South Street and Avocet Circuit in Marsden Park to a full-width, sub-arterial road.
The upgrade includes 660 metres of road and drainage, including undergrounding of power and street lighting. The upgraded road will service 17,000 homes in the Marsden Park precinct and connect Marsden Park’s Industrial Precinct with its future residential precinct. This will improve traffic flow and serviceability and reduce peak-hour congestion.
