Far West Regional Plan 2036
We’ve finalised a regional plan centred on a diverse economy, healthy environment and strong and connected communities.

Streets and traffic flow
The plan includes changes to streets, walkways and cycleways to improve traffic flow and make it easier to move around.

Trees and sunlight
The tree canopy in Waterloo south is currently 29%. This is expected to increase to around 40%, once development is complete.

New England North West Regional Plan 2041
The New England North West Region landscapes range from the tablelands of the Great Dividing Range in the east to the rich black soil plains in the west.

Economic development
The region is home to a growing economy – up to $13.7 billion in 2021 from $10.8 billion in 2016.

Vegetation in non-rural areas
The State Environmental Planning Policy (Vegetation in Non-Rural Areas) 2017 (Vegetation SEPP) commenced in New South Wales on 25 August 2017.

Emerging opportunities
Several investments will see the region become a leader in renewable energy and innovative job precincts.

This regional plan aims to diversifying the economy, build community and infrastructure resilience, safeguard water security and plan for a sustainable future.

Connections – New England North West Regional Plan 2041
The regional plan will sit alongside Regional Transport Plan to be developed by Transport for NSW and investments in the region will improve freight movements.
