Fire Safety Order issued to the Australian Museum – AMRI Building at 1 Williams Street, Darlinghurst NSW 2010

On 25 October 2021, the Department issued a Fire Safety Order to the AMRI Building at the Australian Museum to remove identified external wall panels on the building consisting of Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP). ACP is combustible and poses a fire safety risk. The Museum is required to replace the ACP with a non-combustible product and provide an inspection report issued by an accredited certifier, certifying that the replacement panels and method of installation comply with the Building Code of Australia. The Museum is required to implement and maintain fire safety measures to reduce the fire safety risks associated with the cladding until the rectification work is complete.

Fire Safety Order issued to 1 Darling Island Road, Pyrmont NSW 2009

On 25 October 2021, the Department issued a Fire Safety Order to the owners of 1 Darling Island Road, Pyrmont, to remove identified external wall panels on the building consisting of Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP). ACP is combustible and poses a fire safety risk. The owners are required to replace the ACP with a non-combustible product and provide an inspection report issued by an accredited certifier, certifying that the replacement panels and method of installation comply with the Building Code of Australia. The owners are required to develop and implement fire safety measures to reduce the fire safety risks associated with the cladding until the rectification work is complete.

Fire Safety Order issued to Building A31 - Sydney Nanoscience Hub at the University of Sydney, Physics Road, Camperdown 2006

On 7 October 2021, the Department issued Fire Safety Orders to the owners of Building A31 - Sydney Nanoscience Hub at the University of Sydney, Physics Road, Camperdown 2006 to remove identified external wall panels on the building consisting of Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP). ACP is combustible and poses a fire safety risk. The owners are required to replace the ACP with a non – combustible product and provide an inspection report issued by an accredited certifier, certifying that the replacement panels and method of installation comply with the Building Code of Australia. The owners are required to develop and implement fire safety measures to reduce the fire safety risks associated with the cladding until the rectification work is complete.

UPDATE: June 2023 – the works required under this order have now been completed.

Official Caution issued to Richard Crookes Construction Pty Ltd

(SSD-9439) Central Coast LGA

On 27 October 2021, the Department issued an Official Caution to Richard Crookes Construction Pty Ltd (RCC) for undertaking construction works outside of the approved development area at the Porters Creek Public School. RCC placed soil stockpiles outside the approved development area, impacting on the regeneration of some vegetation. Undertaking construction works within permitted development areas minimises adverse impacts on the surrounding environment. RCC has since taken corrective action to remove the soil stockpiles and encourage the regrowth of vegetation in the impacted area.
