Collaborating with the local community and Liverpool City Council has enable the design of a new park in Leppington. Construction began in October 2024 and is due to be completed in early 2025.
About the new park
Currently under construction after 3 rounds of community engagement, the new park provides 7.6 ha of public open space on Camden Valley Way, not far from Liverpool and Leppington town centres.
Connected by new pedestrian and cycle paths, the park's design was informed by the 3 principles of the NSW Government’s award-winning Everyone Can Play program:
Can I get there?
Consider location, layout, signage, wayfinding and accessibility to ensure everyone can find their way to, in and around the playspace.
Can I play?
The play experience, including the equipment and surfacing, should enable everyone to experience a variety of challenging and engaging play opportunities in a way that suits them.
Can I stay?
Consider safety, facilities, landscape and the wider environment to ensure everyone can stay at the playspace for as long as they would like.
Additional features include a youth hub with basketball half-court, parking, and an amenities building. There’s plenty of places to play, relax and connect with family and friends including picnic and barbeque areas.

Design process
-
Step 1
The first step was to find out what we could and couldn’t do on the site. The top priorities were to protect the site’s unique environment and scenic beauty and to offer places for the community to get together.
-
Step 2
The second step was to seek ideas and feedback from the community and key stakeholders to inform the development of a draft concept design for the new park.
-
Step 3
The third step was to present the draft concept design for community feedback before further developing the park design. This stage includes a design board that lets you take a closer look at the proposed key features of the park. It also included a survey to gather information on community priorities and values that the final plan will need to address.
-
Step 4
The fourth step provided an opportunity to take a detailed look at the final plan for the new park. The final design illustrates the key features of the plan and highlights how community input has helped shaped the design.
