Glenfield to Macarthur Urban Renewal Precincts

Greater Macarthur Growth Area

In late 2015, we consulted the community and stakeholders on the Draft Glenfield to Macarthur Urban Renewal Corridor Strategy and individual plans for each of the 7 train station precincts.

Following a review of submissions, we made some changes to the plans. We have finalised the plans for 6 of the 7 train station precincts.

After rezoning occurs, Campbelltown City Council will be responsible for implementing the precinct plans. A Section 9.1 Planning Direction accompanies the precinct plans. The direction ensures planning proposals submitted to rezone land in the corridor are consistent with the long-term vision for these precincts.

The plans for the Macquarie Fields, Ingleburn, Minto, Leumeah, Campbelltown and Macarthur precincts have now been finalised. Visit the precinct pages to view detailed changes to each precinct plan.

Key changes to the plans

  • Providing council with flexibility to plan for better parks and more active open space. Our investigations show that enough open space exists to meet current and future needs but that open space can be improved and made more usable through upgraded facilities, especially sporting facilities. Campbelltown Council will consider additional open space in future local planning;
  • The plans recommend the inclusion of new public plazas. Council will plan for these plazas in consultation with the community.

Glenfield

Glenfield was rezoned on 16 July 2021 following the NSW Government’s proposal for education facilities at Glenfield.

The rezoning will enable up to 7,000 new homes, 2,900 new jobs, additional playing fields and upgrades to Hurlstone Agriculture High School.
