Glossary – Your guide to the DA process
Glossary of terms and abbreviations used in the development application process to help make building a new house or renovating property faster and easier.
Stage 1 – Pre-lodgement
The pre-lodgement stage is the front end of the development assessment process. If you get the front end right you are likely to have a simple DA process.
Stage 2 – Lodging your development application
Lodgement is the formal start of the DA process. Council will check that all the information has been provided.
Stage 3 – Assessment
All DAs require a formal council assessment. This involves a site inspection, engaging with applicants and neighbours, reporting, and making recommendations.
Region-shaping investment
Our plan to invest in and make the Central West and Orana region a great place to work and do business.
Stage 4 – Determination
There are three possible outcomes for a DA: development consent, DA refusal and deferred commencement consent.
