The NSW State Design Review Panel (SDRP) includes a team of state government design champions and 6 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members with expertise in design and Aboriginal cultural heritage to promote opportunities to Design with Country.
NSW SDRP Panel Member
Joe is the Design Director of COX Architecture, Sydney studio. He brings a strong focus on creating a positive civic interaction with the public domain, which is central to his design and philosophical approach: 'any building must give more than it takes'.
State Government Design Champion
Stephanie is head of strategic planning at Greater Cities Commission. She specializes in metropolitan planning, housing and infrastructure and has extensive project experience in Western Sydney.

Claire is a proud Aboriginal woman and Executive Director of Asset Activations School Infrastructure NSW. She has an established track record within state government of managing and delivering complex programs and projects.

Matthew is a Director of Bennett and Trimble. He contributes to a broad range of projects, from large scale masterplans to minor interventions in the public and private domain for clients including major universities, state government agencies and cultural institutions.

Paul is Director of Paul Berkemeier Architect and senior consultant for BTB Architecture Studio. He is actively involved in architectural education and was an Adjunct Professor at Sydney University and National President of the Australian Institute of Architects.

Angelo established his Sydney-based studio, Candalepas Associates in 1994 and was made a Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects in 2019. His work has been acknowledged in Australia and internationally through exhibitions, awards, and publications.

Tony is a Director and Urban Design Consultant for Tony Caro Architecture. He has 40 years’ experience leading a private sector practice with a focus on holistic city-making. Tony was appointed a Life Fellow of the Institute of Architects in 2019.

Elizabeth is Managing Principal and Studio Leader of FJC studio Sydney and has over 25 years of experience in Australia and southeast Asia. She operates across a range of typologies including educational, cultural, adaptive reuse, performing arts, residential and commercial.

Shaun is the principal architect and founder of Carter Williamson Architects. An active member of the profession, he is a former President of the Australian Institute of Architects (NSW Chapter) and a regularly invited guest speaker and awards juror.

Matt is the Principal of Scale Architecture and Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. He is a multiple award-winning architect with 20 years’ of project experience in Australia, the Netherlands and the Middle East.

Cathryn is Director Urban Design at Urban Enquiry. She is an award-winning urban designer with over 29 years’ experience across the United Kingdom and Australia. She is passionate about design as a collaborative process to deliver progressive, resilient and adaptive change.

Anna is a registered landscape architect and a leader in the Australian design industry. She is a Founding Director of PLACE Laboratory, bringing her integrity, community spirit, and professionalism to promote the built environment design professions.

John is a founding partner of CHROFI. He was an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at University of Sydney, is a member of Sydney Olympic Park Authority Design Review Panel and serves on the board of 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art.

Oi is Principal at Oi Choong Consultant and has over 30 years’ experience as an award-winning landscape architect and urban designer. She is a Life Fellow of the Institute of Architects and was awarded the Marion Mahony Griffin Prize in 2018.
State Government Design Champion
Gareth is Director of the Centre for Urban Design at Transport NSW (TfNSW). He was the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) NSW President and is a Fellow of the AILA. In his role at TfNSW he has led the urban design for all NSW road and maritime projects.

Penny is a Director at Collins and Turner. She is involved in concept design through to delivery for projects in the public, cultural and educational spheres. Penny has an interest in seeing design excellence contribute to the sustainable densification of cities.

Andrew leads design and strategy across all sectors. He is the managing partner of Grimshaw Architects, Sydney as well as the inaugural director of the Grimshaw Foundation, established to support access to and promote the arts and architecture.

Michelle is the Future Communities Lead at GHD Australia. She is an architect and urban designer with a background in development, government and design practice. Recently she provided urban leadership for the Central Precinct Renewal Program for Transport for NSW.

Lucy is a Principal at Lucy Creagh Urban Projects and has more than 20 years’ experience in architecture and urban design. She has particular expertise in transport-related projects, and a special interest in the cultural and horticultural dimensions of open space design.

Kim is a Life fellow of the RAIA and leads the City Architects Unit at the City of Parramatta Council. Since 2015 she has led the implementation of 25 design excellence competitions with a value of $5 billion, and from 2015 to 2019 she led the Design Excellence Review Panel.
