Recognition of prior learning or experience
What if I’m considering a career change or am already in the industry and want to become a certifier?

Building certifiers get to work on a variety of constructions from home renovations to high rises and commercial or industrial buildings.
Combustible cladding
New laws have been made for buildings with combustible cladding following the tragic Grenfell Tower, London and Lacrosse Building, Melbourne fires.
Exempt development for cladding

Fire safety in buildings
The department supports many aspects of building and fire safety including the strengthening of fire safety certification for buildings.
Resilience and natural hazard risk
We are ensuring risk from natural hazards is understood and considered early through strategic planning, protecting communities from existing and future risks.
Bushfires
Trees and vegetation that act as fuel for bushfires are permitted to be cleared in identified bushfire prone areas, without the need to get approval.
Bushfire maps for urban release areas
Changes to bushfire planning regulations in May 2014 have reduced the number of bushfire risk assessments required during development.
